Well, I made sufficient progress on Charlie’s scarf in time for the 2nd knitting class. I learned how to knit in the second cake of yarn in a way that blended it in so there was no knot to show in the middle of it. This way, I can keep going with her scarf to make it as long as I need to for her. Ideally, I want her to be able to wrap it around her neck and have both ends hanging down (fashionably, of course). To make sure I could meet this goal, I went ahead and bought another hank of her yarn and had it spun to a cake just in case I needed it for the length. If I had a pattern for this, I would have known already, but since this was something I just up and decided to do, I’m winging it. The instructor seemed to think I have a good hand with knitting, so there’s still hope for me! Pic below of where I brought in the second cake – can you tell where I did it??

I found a good YouTube video by The Giddy Stitcher that I’ve found really helpful for reading and translating patterns, both written and charted; you can find that here. Unfortunately, I’ve hit a bit of a snag with Charlie’s scarf. I’ve had some weird heart stuff going on lately, so my week had a lot of time shifted away from planned activities to going to doctor’s appointments and getting fitted with a fancy 14-day heart monitor. So far, I’ve been told there’s a chance I may need a pacemaker because my heart just keeps stopping when it shouldn’t, and the electrical impulses that tell it when to beat correctly are all wonky. I’ll get the final decision after this bit with the monitor is done. In the meantime, I’m attempting to chanel my anxiety and stress into something useful – aka – knitting.
Speaking of KnitBham, they’ve updated their upcoming class offerings, and there are at least three I really want to do. The first is for a “1st project” kind of thing so a hat/dog sweater/etc., but it’s in 2 parts, and I can’t make the 2nd class as scheduled. Then there’s a sweater how-to class that I’d also love to take, but I also have my graduate capstone course this semester, and it’s a doozy. I don’t want to fail at either project and am worried about over-extending myself, especially with this ridiculous heart business. I really need it to just do what it’s supposed to do, the way it’s supposed to do it, so I can go about living like I need to. I still believe everything happens for a reason, even if I can’t see that reason just yet. Maybe it’s so my daughters can be better prepared for their own crazy health journeys one day, but I hope that isn’t it. I’d prefer they have smooth sailing on that front; thank you very much. Anyway, pic of my Ciri (aka Scrump Nugget) below, in a sweater I bought her last autumn. I’d love to take that next class and learn how to make all five of our miniature dachshunds their own sweaters!

I wanted to get more time today (Sunday) on her scarf, but we ended up with another jam-packed day. When I tried to resume my work on it tonight, I lost focus for a second and somehow messed up a stitch or two. I tried to fix it but somehow just ended up managing to bungle most of the row – whomp whomp. So, I’ve stopped myself in order to make an emergency run to KnitBham as soon as possible this week to ask them to help a sister out. Below is the bungle I made of my row on Charlie’s scarf….what a mess. Here’s hoping it’s able to fixed easily enough this week!

Wishing you all a gentle Monday tomorrow, with minimal snagging and bungles!

Considering everything I think you are doing a great job. I’d probably have made a BUNCH more booboos. I figured you could go back to where it messed up but guess not. See? You are way ahead. Hugs. Hang in there. Try to keep your knitting your stress free zone. No worries. It’ll all knit together 😄😃🥰🤗
You definitely can go back and fix it, I just don’t quite have that knowledge yet. I’m set to go to an “Oops” class later this month where I hope to learn exactly that!
